The Social Experiment of ARC Raiders

This project served as my final capstone project for my Anthropology degree at the University of Florida. I analyzed how digital algorithms, in this case the “Aggression-Based Matchmaking” featured within the video game “ARC Raiders” facilitated the creation of social norms and cultural echo chambers. I performed my research using personal “field experience”, a mix of passive in-game observation and informed consensual interviews with players within the game.
